Protection

Furniture legs and bases must be fitted with proper floor protectors. Please wait at least 72 hours after final finishing to place furniture. The market’s highest quality floor protectors are available at our office. Such things as removing your shoes, protecting high traffic areas with area rugs (please wait 45 days for the finish to cure before placing area rugs that will not be moved regularly), keeping pets under control and wiping up spills are all good practices that will increase the life span of your floor finish. The single most effective way to keep the cost of maintenance down is with proper cleaning.

Cleaning

To reduce unnecessary wear, try to keep your floor free from abrasives by carefully sweeping or vacuuming often. To remove oils and cooking fat you will need to wash your floor. Because many over-the-counter cleaners contain ingredients that will build up or otherwise ruin your floor finish and inhibit recoating, we strongly recommend the use of our cleaner. Our cleaner has been formulated to extend the life of the finish that we apply without leaving a product residue or build-up. If recoating becomes impossible due to product residue, product build-up or inadequate cleaning, sanding will be the only way to revitalize your floor. F.Y.I. - sanding is much more invasive to your home and is generally three to four times the cost of recoating - Please try our cleaner.

Recoating

At some point in the future your floor will need a fresh coat of finish. When your floor loses its luster and a good cleaning doesn’t do the job any longer, please call us to schedule a service appointment. Following these care instructions will help us revitalize your Erskine Wood Floor quickly and inexpensively.
